Information about Sarah
I have a Masters degree, and a BA (Hons) in sociology and criminology.
I have a clear enhanced DBS check which was registered and completed April 2014.
I have qualified teacher status (2006) and ensure that I keep up-to-date with educational practices by currently studying for the Institute of Education at PhD level.
Availability: Evenings and weekends. At times during the day.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have a wide range of teaching experience, from private weekend drama schools, colleges, mainstream education, Pupil Referral Units and psychiatric units. I have taught from primary to post 16 provision. I have worked with pupils with varying special needs, including Down`s Syndrome, dyslexia, dyspraxia, epilepsy, autistic spectrum disorders, speech language and communication needs, moderate learning difficulties and social emotional behavioual difficulties.
I have taught extensively online and use skype or FaceTime to accommodate this. I understand that some pupils are reluctant to begin with but have found that it is still possibly to build a professional relationship online as well as off!
I have tutored on a 1:1 for fourteen years and supported pupils in returning to mainstream school, completing GSCE and those moving on to university. I particularly enjoy teaching sociology a`level and am a specialist in this area but having worked in alternative settings, am at home teaching other humanities subjects too.
