A dedicated teacher with more than twenty years classroom experience. My teaching is informed by specialist training and the belief that the most effective way to meet the needs of individual children is to develop personalised lessons targeting strengths and weaknesses. Patient and calm, I can help children gain confidence and learn the skills they need to fulfil their potential. I have worked in a specialist school for Dyslexic pupils and have an additional qualification for teaching pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties.
Availability: Available weekdays and weekends.

Experience: Over twenty years teaching Mathematics and Literacy at Primary level. I have an additional qualification for teaching pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties. I have in-depth knowledge of the Key Stage 2 Mathematics curriculum and am experienced in helping children gain confidence and reach their potential. Patient and calm, I adapt my teaching to the needs of the individual child.

We needed some help for our son in Maths in advance of his SATS and to generally help him improve his understanding of some of the basics in Maths. Janet has had quite a transformational effect on my son, not just in Maths which is what she is working with him on, but on his whole approach to school. The feedback from his school is that he is more focused, he is more confident and his academic ability has improved exponentially. I cannot recommend Janet enough. She is absolutely amazing and my son loves her (he has asked if we can ‘keep her’ 🤭; beyond his SATS and into year 7 because he has found working with her so helpful.

My Daughters first session with Janet was fantastic, she made Willow feel very safe and secure, Willow thoroughly enjoyed their session and is looking forward to the next one.

Janet has tutored my Year 6 child for the past 18 months, during which time she has proved to be a fantastic tutor - reliable, well prepared and always sharing feedback, so the parent feels informed and involved. Janet has provided excellent support in addressing gaps in learning arising from the COVID period and generally providing additional stretch and challenge where needed. She has gone away and looked at the curriculum and SATs closely, always applying careful thought to how make the most of lesson time and tailoring lessons flexibly to the needs of my child. This has involved building in both maths and English (spag and writing) into lessons to keep maximum engagement and interest. Janet has also advised on clear strengths and weaker areas to focus on. She has built a good rapport with my child through fully remote lessons - obviously this depends on the child but the key being working together consistently on a regular basis for a decent period of time. I can thoroughly recommend Janet and am grateful for the peace of mind she has provided over the past couple of years.
