Information about Sobia
I am a qualified a primary school teacher with over 17 years of teaching experience. I currently teach year 5 in a well established school; in addition to this, I have experience of teaching across KS1 and KS2. I am familiar and up to date with the National curriculum. All of my lesson observations achieve outstanding feedback from the senior leaders. I am well versed with assessment as learning and assessment for learning. I am fully trained in the delivery of phonics and can use this to help learners develop early reading. As well as a class based teacher, I am experienced in supporting and teaching children to prepare them for their SATs in Y2 and Y6.
What do I teach?
Phonics: I completed my training in `Sounds-Write` Phonics. Sounds-Write uses a linguistic approach in teaching phonics whereby a student develops reading fluency through decoding and blending the sounds.
Writing: I plan my lessons carefully taking I to knowledge the student`s prior knowledge. All my lessons are in line with the National Curriculum.
Maths: My lessons build on from the student`s proor knowledge. I can use models and images to make learning easier amd to support the fundamental notions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division before addressing reasoning problems. I am familiar with the White Rose Maths scheme as I currently teach using this scheme and resources.
My teaching style
I commence each lesson with a review or retrieval of previous lesson. Retrieval is an integral part of learning. Spaced retrieval allows children to build their long term memory. I introduce new material in small steps, with effective modelling too. The use of `steps to success` allows the student to identify any key steps(s) they have missed out. I provide immediate feedback marking to allow the student to to formally assess any gaps or next steps.
The work I provide will be in line with the National Curriculum and age appropriate. We will begin with fluency related questions and advance on to using and applying.

Sobia quickly identified the needs of the student, came up with a study plan and during the short time the student made good progress. Great to communicate with, always punctual and prepared. Highly recommend!
