Information about Samantha
I am a qualified Mathematics teacher though now retired from classroom teaching due to hearing loss.I am a dedicated and motivated individual.Even after 24 years of teaching, I still find it very rewarding.
I have now been working as a home tutor since September 2013 teaching mathematics to a wide range of age groups from Key Stage 2 up to Key Stage 4. I also tutor A level Mathematics (Core 1 to 4 and Statistics S1& S2).
I really enjoy the challenge of having to prepare work for such a variety of ages and abilities but more importantly, I thoroughly enjoy working with students on a one to one basis and seeing their personal development, improvement and growth.
I have had online tutor training having worked for an online company for 18 months. I am therefore familiar with using a headset and webcam to help deliver online lessons.
Since starting tutoring in September 2013 all my GCSE students have achieved a C grade or higher, the majority of whom moved up two grades. Of my Key Stage 3 students they have all been moved up at least a set since starting one to one tutoring with me. Some of my students (past and present) have anxiety issues. One of them had not attended school since Year 9. I started tutoring him in Year 11 and he went on to achieve a grade C in his maths. Some of my students have also been dyslexic and very lacking in confidence but have gone on to achieve the grade C.
I have been involved in marking both GCSE and A level (Pure Maths Core 2 & 4 ) exam papers for AQA for a number of years, roles in which I have always received excellent feedback and assessment.
I have three adult daughters who I enjoy spending time with and help them in their various interests.I am a keen swimmer and also enjoy running, reading and walking my dog. I thoroughly enjoy watching rugby and have been to a number of live matches.
I enjoy baking and have been trying my hand at bread making but not very successfully. My family prefer my cakes, preferably the chocolate ones.
