After graduating from New York University with a Master’s degree in Classics, I worked as a full time tutor in New York City. I began tutoring during my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Edinburgh. I focus on Ancient Languages, such as Latin and Ancient Greek, but have also tutored Essay Writing and Ancient History. I have studied Ancient Greek for eleven years and Latin for fifteen years, and love teaching them.

In terms of pedagogical practice, I pride myself on being a personable and caring teacher with a diligent and strict method. I do not heavily paraphrase; I want my students to possess a thorough intellectual understanding of these languages. However, this does not mean that my lessons are too dense nor complex: I take the time to carefully explain each new concept, have many exercises prepared in varying degrees of difficulty, and can quickly adapt the sessions to fit the student’s learning speed and aptitude. Latin and Ancient Greek are not easy languages, but I firmly believe that anybody can learn them with the right instruction.

This method has seen strong results. I have taught both Ancient Greek and Latin from complete scratch, I have had a student rise from a C to an A grade, and have received constant positive feedback. My retention rate is roughly 85-90%.

Throughout both degrees, I worked part time in the hospitality industry. This gave me strong interpersonal skills; I can be both warm and professional when communicating with clients.

In my free time, I am an avid reader and writer – I am currently reading a collection of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short stories. Film and art have also been lifelong obsessions of mine. On the weekend, I am either at the Tate museum or at a Picturehouse cinema.
