Mary Jayne

I am currently completing my Masters degree in Musicology at King’s College London. I also studied my BMus at King’s between 2017 and 2019. I have a broad knowledge base having studied Maths, Physics and Design Technology at A-level before going on to peruse Music degrees. During my degrees, I have taken modules in History, French and English as well as more general music theory. I grew up in Leicester and took lessons in piano, singing and saxophone. After moving to London, I continued my saxophone study at the Royal Academy of Music. I have always been interested in performance and have been actively involved in theatre for many years, both onstage and backstage.

Experience: I have always enjoyed combining teaching with my own learning and have worked with pupils over a broad age spectrum. I have experience both working one-to-one and in larger class settings. Whilst still at school, I coached younger pupils in Maths and Sciences and had several instrumental students. After I started university, I continued to give lessons in Music Theory, Saxophone and young learners piano as well as more general academic coaching. In addition to tutoring individuals, I have run children’s choirs and also taught classes of up to 20 eight to eleven year olds in general music education.
