Information about Nathan
Hi! Im Nathan, a recent graduate of Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York. I am available to tutor a variety of subjects at different levels. In general, I focus on helping students make the best use of the time they spend studying. Whether it is exam technique or course content, I place emphasis on providing techniques to help you better focus on your studies. I also offer discounts on first lessons, as it is important to make sure you find the right tutor for you!
Maths
I am available to teach maths up to A-level. I cater lessons to each student and the level of guidance that they need. With A-level maths, I focus on helping students build the strong foundation of understanding necessary to complete exam questions on later core modules, which test your ability to think creatively to solve problems.
History
Specialising in British and American history, I help to deconstruct the economic and political components of history that are often poorly explained at A-level by both teachers and textbooks. Breaking this information down helps to remove the confusion that students often face at this stage, making it easier for students to understand, revise and apply what they have learnt. I also help students to develop their exam technique and I am very familiar with the new A-Level History format, having sat the new exams myself in 2017.
Philosophy
Having just attained an average of 78% on my written coursework for philosophy at degree level, I help students to develop the strong research and analytical skills necessary to write outstanding essays. I can also help students to improve their essay-writing technique by working on plans, structure and their clarity of writing so that students can better express their thoughts. I specialise in Ethics (Bioethics and Public Policy) and Metaphysics. Exemplary work is available on request.

Experience: I have experience tutoring maths and exam technique to friends at university. I currently work as a volunteer mentor for young people with ill mental health. Consequently, I emphasise teaching students to better manage their time and developing their ability to focus so that they can find the balance they need to stay happy whilst achieving their academic goals.
