Information about Connor
I`m Connor, a final year medical student at Keele University. I have a passion for learning, and for teaching others.
I have extensive experience tutoring A-Level biology, and have tutored three students every week for the past year. My students have given me great feedback, and all have felt much more confident entering their summer exams. I have enabled my students to improve from E/D predictions to C grades in their A-Level Biology exams in 2019.
I`ve been teaching others since school. First starting as a tutor, followed later by educating medical students in the medical sciences and anatomy at University. I have ran lectures and interactive seminars for medical students, as well as outreach education programmes on HIV to local schools.
At school I achieved A*A*A in Biology, History, and Chemistry, and 7A*s 5As at GCSE. Since then I have completed a Clinical Anatomy BSc at the University of Leeds , as part of my intercalation year, where I achieved first class honours and won a national award for my dissertation project.
Availability: Weekdays (evenings), and weekends.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have a very positive attitude and love to teach, so the lessons should never be boring. I would like all of my students to be fully engaged throughout the session, and I achieve this by keeping my sessions very interactive. I like to educate via questions and answers, which allow the student to think around the problem as I think this is the best way to learn.
The structure of my lessons will depend on what stage the student is at and what their goals are. At first I like to identify the key difficult areas, and develop a plan for how we can best make them a strength by the time it comes to exams. Once that is organised we will tackle each problem week by week. I like to leave the lesson plan organic as to allow for any questions that pop up, but I ensure that each topic is covered. Whilst I think that teaching is a great way to learn, I understand its limitations as well. I feel that setting homework and past questions is the only sure way to know that you will master your subject so this will be a mandatory part of my teaching.
I`m very keen to provide mentorship as well as tutoring support throughout the year. I would like my students to see me as a friend and mentor that can help them get to where they want to be, whatever level they are aiming for. I can provide UKCAT, Personal Statement, and Medical School Interview prep to those that want to apply for Medicine.

Connor in the last month has allowed me to make progress in my exam technique coming up towards my a level biology exams. He has also developed my understanding of sometopics to allow me to retain information that I previously couldnt. He has done this by being enthusiastic and very engaging in the topics we discuss.
