Hi, I’m Shuning - a third-year dental student at King’s with 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Economics and an EPQ at A Level. My own personal experiences with the new, updated exam curriculum has helped students reach their goal grades with advice and resources designed with specific exam boards in mind.

My tailored tutoring approach involves customised practice questions incorporating research proven methods of learning: spaced repetition, active recall and interleaving. Frequent progress checks alongside access to a custom 3000+ flashcard bank ensure that students don`t forget previous topics, making last-minute cramming a thing of the past.

Qualifications:
4 A*s at A Level - Biology, Chemistry, Economics, EPQ + A in AS Maths
UCAT - 3380 Top 1% of results in 2018 (Top 30 in the country)
4/4 Dental university offers (King`s, Birmingham, Sheffield and Bristol).
GCSEs (first year to undertake new 9-1 GCSEs in only English and Maths):
- 3 9s in English Literature, English Language and Maths
- 7 A*s - including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mandarin
- 2As - French, Music

I am also available for personal statement, UCAT and dental admissions advice, having myself received all four offers for Dentistry from King’s, Birmingham, Bristol and Sheffield. My UCAT score of 3380 places me well into the top 1% of the 2018 UCAT cohort (out of ~28,000 medical and dental candidates).

Experience: Five years of private tutoring from primary-aged students all the way to adult learners has refined my teaching and communication skills, enabling me to develop teaching methods that help to simplify difficult concepts in easy ways.

Excellent exam grades comes in three: understanding, memorisation and exam practice.

Most of my lesson time focusses on the first stage, breaking down complex topics into easily understood concepts through a mix of diagrams, interactive whiteboards, videos and more.

My 3000+ customised flashcard bank tailored to the A Level specification targets the second stage, utilising all three revolutionary learning principles of spaced repetition, active recall and interleaving. These skills of learning last a lifetime, and will help students retain information for longer.

Finally, my extensive question bank with past papers and previous exam questions tackle the last step towards achieving outstanding exam grades. These are incorporated into lessons as frequent progress checks, assigned as homework and scheduled into student study plans. After the student understands the concepts, my lessons will then focus on the exam technique required to answer questions on them.

My holistic teaching approach means that when it comes to learning, no stone is left unturned. From helping students with their university applications to analysing and improving their study skills, offering intensive crash courses and constructing tailored study timetables, the benefits of my teaching extend far past just the one or two hours a week that are scheduled.
