Information about Anand
I am passionate about mathematics and have long been interested in education. I believe that a better understanding of mathematics helps improve performance. But there are also some pitfalls to avoid and "tricks" which can help pupils do well at exams.
I have been a mathematics tutor since 2009 and over that period have helped over 175 pupils achieve their potential. I work with pupils with a wide range of abilities: for some of my pupils attaining a GCSE C grade is as great an achievement as getting an A* at A-level might be for another. Consequently, and in the absence of reliable value-added measures, any statistics on my success rate are likely to be meaningless. However, one measure is that in the year ended Summer 2017, I was working with 6 siblings of older pupils. I consider that indicative of the parents` confidence in me.
I was a governor at a local school for over ten years: many of them as Chair of the Governing Body. This kept me in touch with developments in the field. During the period of my chairmanship the school received a Grand Slam of Outstanding assessment from OFSTED across all categories.
Availability: Under normal circumstances Monday to Friday 10:30 am to 8 pm, Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm (with a break for lunch at some stage). I usually arrange one 1-hour session per week but am happy to consider alternatives. For example, with younger pupils shorter sessions may be more productive - especially if they come to me exhausted after a day at school! For older pupils, or just before exams, longer sessions may be more appropriate.
I am usually also available throughout half terms, and during most of the Christmas and Easter holidays. I do not normally work during the Summer Holidays.
Also, normally the tuition is on a one-to-one and face-to-face basis.
However, during the current abnormal times I will tutor on a 1-to-1 basis using Skype. Also, since schools are closed, I will be available any time between 10:30 am and 6:30 pm.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been a tutor since 2009. I teach mainly pupils studying for GCSE and A levels but I have worked with children as young as 7 as well as with university students.
At A-level, I have taught all the popular modules for Mathematics and for Further Mathematics for the main examination boards (Edexcel, AQA, OCR).
DBS Check: Yes

Anand is extremely patient and highly knowledgeable. My youngest has been struggling in maths for some time, and his confident has improved sigificantly since starting with Anand. He`s an excellent tutor who explains complex concepts effectively and clearly, at an appropriate level for the student

I highly recommend Anand. He has been a wonderful tutor to my shy daughter in Yr11 to help build her confidence in maths. She positively looks forward to the lessons (on a Saturday!) and had said Anand is an excellent teacher who has the knowledge, experience, patience as well as the teaching techniques to help with comprehension and application strategy.
