Hello! I am a recent graduate from New College, University of Oxford, who has been teaching and tutoring for 3 years.

As I child, I always had a love of learning and consequently had lofty academic ambitions — I knew I wanted to go to Oxford when I was 10! My primary school was in a tiny village in Leicestershire, so I taught myself to take the 11+ exam (with help, of course, from very supportive parents) and went on to attend a state grammar school in Buckinghamshire, where I achieved 12 GCSEs (A*-A) and 3 A-Levels (A*-A). I hope to instil in my tutees the same drive and passion for learning that allowed me to achieve my goals.

My personal tutoring style is in part inspired by Stanford professor Carol Dweck`s concept of the “growth mindset”. I have found this an extremely effective approach to teaching, because it reconfigures students’ attitudes to failure and criticism, and instead nurtures confidence in their endless capacity to improve. In my experience this has not only led to better results, but also a more enjoyable learning process.

Availability: I am usually available on weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons. As I work part time in a school, my schedule often changes, so please don`t hesitate to message me to arrange a time that suits you.

Experience: For the past 3 years I have been working part-time in the vocational departments for Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, Hertfordshire, where I have been teaching children and young people aged between 10 and 18.

The Oxford Music degree is known for its multidisciplinary nature, and consequently I am able to approach a wide range of subjects. At present, I specialise in English Language, English Literature, Music, and Music Theory, from Key Stage 2 all the way up to A-Level. An experienced actor, I also offer acting tuition for graded examinations such as LAMDA and Trinity College London.
