I am a highly experienced and highly qualified tutor offering private tuition in Chemistry at GCSE, A-level and degree-level.
I hold a First Class Honours degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemistry from Manchester University and I am a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Chartered Chemist.
I have more than twenty years experience of teaching chemistry and forensic science, from GCSE up to PhD level, at universities in the UK and Canada, and I have also worked in the chemical industry. I am now self-employed as a private tutor, having been offering private tuition for the last eight years.
I am an approachable, patient and enthusiastic tutor, and I aim to build confidence, stimulate interest and enhance knowledge through a relaxed, informal and flexible approach to tutoring. I employ a range of approaches to address different learning styles, including different ways of explaining theoretical concepts and a range of problem-solving strategies. I make use of a wide range of resources, including bullet-point revision notes, multiple choice quizzes, video clips and exam-style questions on each topic, to consolidate understanding and improve exam technique, including recognition of key words and phrases in exam questions.
I have a current and up-to-date DBS certificate and I am happy to provide contact details of former students/parents who have agreed to provide references.

Availability: I am available to take on new students from Mondays to Thursdays, between the hours of 9am and 7pm.

I have tutored students from state-run schools & colleges to private institutions, including Eton and Harrow.
Many of my A-level chemistry students have gone on to study at prestigious universities, such as UCL, ICL, medical and veterinary schools around the UK. 2022-23 was another excellent year of achievement for my students: most of my A-Level Chemistry students were awarded A or B grades and all of my GCSE Chemistry students achieved grades 8 or 9.
