I offer lessons in guitar, bass and music theory within East London, principally in the boroughs of Waltham Forest and Hackney (eg Walthamstow, Leyton, Chingford, Clapton, Hackney, Dalston).

As a guitarist and bassist I’ve toured the world over the past decade, from Europe and the US to Australia, South Africa, Russia and Dubai. Highlights include Glastonbury Festival, Hammersmith Apollo, Ronnie Scotts, Montreux Jazz festival, Sydney Opera House, SXSW, and the Forbidden City in Beijing.

I’ve written and produced songs that have been used in global advertising campaigns (eg Mercedes and Hyundai), and also had primetime radio play and played live on BBC Radio 1, Radio 4 and 6Music.

Experience: I have previous guitar teaching experience gained while I was at college, working with children under 10. Since becoming a full time musician, I have helped many performers who play the guitar or bass as a second instrument to gain a better understand of how to play technically and musically.

I have excellent communication skills and enjoy helping people learn. I have done voluntary work for Kids Company, including running after school clubs and mentoring, as well as working in a local centre for children and young adults with physical and mental disabilities. This has given me great experience communicating and working with children and adults with a wide range of physical and mental abilities or emotional problems. In addition I have many years experience working with people for whom English is not their first language, communicating complex ideas and concepts to make sure they are understood. And I`m very patient!

I’m available for lessons at my studio in Walthamstow, or I can come to you. I’m happy to teach at any level from aged 7 to adults, from complete beginner to advanced players wanting to learn specific techniques. This can be guitar, bass, production or music theory. I have an excellent knowledge of all aspects of music, not just how to play an instrument, which gives me a unique insight into how to help someone achieve what their goals.

I specialise in finger-style jazz, but teach a wide range of genres and styles including blues, metal, rock, pop, indie, funk, hip-hop and more, and teach both lead and rhythm playing. I can tech all aspects of theory and specialise in Jazz harmony.

I am also happy to tutor people for all RGT and Trinity grades on the guitar.
