I am the Head of Department in a private school in Surrey. I am married with two children and my interests include cycling, gardening, hill walking and a variety of outdoor pursuits. Among my unusual achievements are crossing the United States on a tandem and walking the 900 kilometers of the Camino Frances to Santiago in 2025.

Availability: At evenings Thursdays and Fridays and and weekends by arrangement. I do much of my tutoring online but I can travel within SW London.

Experience: I have 26 years on-going experience of teaching History and Classical Civilisation from year 7 to A level. In History I have a wide knowledge of most topics taught for A level and GCSE. This would include British, German, Italian and Russian History and International Relations. In Classics I teach the new OCR syllabuses for GCSE and A level and I am fully conversant with the requirements. I have tutored all exam boards including the IGCSE. In addition I have supported a pupil with special needs to degree level and successfully prepared pupils for the Oxbridge exam. I have taught American History and Art History under the American AP system. I have tutored extensively both privately and for a tutoring company. I tutored for five years with the Chelsea Football Academy which was a most interesting experience

In March 2020 I embarked on a steep learning curve for online teaching. I led my department in the transformation and within a week or so we were delivering a full curriculum on teams across all year groups. This lasted until March 2021 and proved very successful, especially with examination classes. I am familiar with teams, skype, zoom and other online teaching platforms. I am also fully conversant with the system used to estimate GCSE and A level grades in the summer of 2020 and 2022. I can offer online teaching using a wide variety of resources.
