Professional maths and science tutor, and Head of Chemistry (as well as the Oxbridge Application Mentor) at a prestigious online school. Currently working as an examiner with CIE OCR.
Cambridge graduate with a BA(Cams) in Natural Sciences. Specializing in Chemistry, I have tutored A-level and GCSE Chemistry throughout all of my undergrad and am extremely familiar with the OCR, Edexcel, and AQA specifications. Additionally I have taught Chemistry catch-up courses for students in pre-Med `foundation` years.
A large part of my tuition is what I call "question-craft". We will talk through past papers and mark schemes, and you`ll learn how to predict a "bucket markscheme" given the wording of a question.
Based on progress, we will either go beyond the specification to understand the picky nature of the markschemes (I`m looking at you, reaction conditions!!) or; we will work up from basic first principles to arrive at conclusions which are presumed in class (I`m looking at you, kinetics!!).
Availability: Weekdays 9am-8pm

Lewis tutored my son in A-Level Chemistry. He has been a brilliant tutor with a great teaching style, and my son thoroughly enjoyed being tutored by him. Anything he had difficulty understanding at school was explained to him in such a way that he understood it almost straight away with Lewis. I would highly recommend him as a tutor.

Lewis started working with my daughter to prepare her for her A level Chemistry exams with just over two months to go. She was looking to increase her grade from a high B to an A. Whilst we don’t yet have her results, I can say that his tutoring was worth every penny. My daughter said he is amazing! She found him to be: patient, encouraging, knowledgeable and that he made a real effort to address her concerns about aspects of Chemistry. He was well-prepared, efficient and quickly identified her areas of weakness and helped her understand what she needed to do to improve them. She has no doubt that his involvement enabled her to approach the exams with considerably more confidence than she had had previously. His tips regarding exam technique were also next level! We are so glad we found him.

Lewis is an excellent tutor with a very engaging teaching style that my daughter enjoys very much. He ensures she understands the reasoning and step by step process behind Chemistry concepts that seem abstract when only memorized. He uses lessons to teach exam technique along side concept learning which makes my daughter even better prepared for the exams in June. I’d highly recommend Lewis to students who need help with long term learning and understanding of Chemistry concepts.
