Hi, I’m Rowan - an experienced, calm, Science and Maths educator with over 10 years working in SEND, SEMH and mainstream education. I enjoy working with students from all ability levels, however I specialise in supporting neurodivergent learners (be it support or stretch) students who require topic/unit specific help as well as students who require stretch or exam practice. One of my passions is helping students build confidence in subjects they may previously have struggled with or have lower confidence in. (another is Minecraft)

I have experience teaching KS3 and KS4 Science (combined & separate sciences) and Maths, including GCSE Higher, Foundation and Entry Level pathways, and I am currently completing my teacher training in Secondary Science. My background in Natural Sciences (Earth Science BSc - physics/chemistry) industry and SEND education allows me to adapt lessons to suit each student’s individual learning style be it support or stretch.

I believe learning works best when students feel safe, understood, and genuinely engaged. I use clear explanations, visual learning strategies, real-world examples, and a calm, supportive approach to help students progress at their own pace.

I particularly enjoy helping students who:

* struggle with confidence or anxiety around learning
* are neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia etc.)
* need alternative explanations or learning approaches
* have gaps in knowledge due to missed schooling or overwhelm
* learn best through discussion, curiosity, and practical examples
* Require topic specific support
* Students who require stretch
* Exam practice

I offer personalised 1:1 and small group tutoring in:

* KS3 Science
* GCSE Science
* Entry Level Science
* KS3 Maths
* Study skills and confidence building

My lessons are friendly, flexible, and tailored to what each student actually needs support with — whether that’s exam preparation, catching up, building confidence, or simply learning in a way that finally makes sense.

Availability: Weekdays - Flexible appointment times available through the day and evening.

Weekends - 11am - 2pm and 4pm - 6pm

Experience: Experience

• 10+ years working in SEND and SEMH education settings
• Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and additional learning needs
• Teaching KS3 and KS4 Science and Maths, including GCSE and Entry Level pathways
• Currently completing Secondary Science teacher training (QTS pathway)
• Strong background in adapting lessons for neurodivergent learners and students who struggle in traditional classroom environments
• Experienced in behaviour support, emotional regulation strategies, and confidence building
• Skilled in creating engaging, accessible lessons using visual learning, real-world examples, and structured support
• Experienced in both classroom teaching and small-group/1:1 intervention work
• Natural Sciences background with a strong passion for Chemistry and practical science learning
• Comfortable supporting students with gaps in education, school anxiety, or low academic confidence
• Calm, flexible, and encouraging teaching style focused on building trust and helping students feel capable again
