Information about Rishin

I am passionate and dedicated to giving my students a clear, precise and advanced account of Mathematics, Physics or Philosophy. I love teaching! I look to impart knowledge that doesn`t just allow the student to solve their short-term difficulties, but also develops a deep, insightful intuition, allowing the student to tackle further study in the subject with fortitude and enthusiasm.

I am an 18 year-old student at the University of Oxford, reading for an undergraduate degree in Physics and Philosophy. I have completed my first year there, with a Distinction.

Beyond this, I have a consistently strong background: 10 A*s at GCSE and 4 A*s at A level. I sat my A levels in 2019. The exam process that school pupils go through is still fresh in my mind; thus, I am more able to translate the required skills for academic success than some older tutors. Even for younger students who may not have exams to the same degree, I can convey the foundations for future study: the earlier you start, the easier it becomes!

I will provide all teaching resources. These resources will be tailored to the student`s specific needs: whether that be due to different exam boards, different goals and different difficulties. To make the most of our sessions, I will ask that the student do some work between sessions. Again, the quantity of homework can be varied depending on the student`s other time commitments.

I am ready to teach online or at your requested location. If I am meeting up with a student, I will wear a mask and 1m+ social distancing will be maintained. If teaching online, I have a reliable internet connection and the required technology to teach, mainly through a virtual whiteboard.

I recommend 90-minute sessions. This can be changed to 1-hour or to 2-hours in differing circumstances.

Availability: I am available all days and at most times! I am on my summer break until early October. I would be an ideal choice for those looking to catch up on lost time in school due to lockdown.

Willing to travel: 30 miles

Experience: While at school, I relished the chance to answer questions from my friends and fellow students about Maths, Physics or Philosophy (or a mix of all three!). I believe I have an ability to give a lucid descri ption of solutions to problems that help one see the overall framework of a topic, beyond simply listing equations. My passion for explaining things manifested by me founding a STEM club (named the Newton Society). In this society, I often explained the applications of Mathematics and Physics, and helped younger students solve problems.

Presently, I work with the Oxford Physics Department as a student ambassador. This has involved me participating in events where I explain Physics to the general public. I have also visited schools to teach some Physics to Y8 and Y9 students.

I also have experience working with younger children. I have taught students in Nepal on a charity trip. Thus, I am receptive to cultural differences in learning techniques.
