Information about Jenny
I have been a fully qualified secondary school English teacher for 6 years. My approach is to be friendly, helpful, thorough and professional with all my students. I aim to ensure my students can understand what they learn and acquire the skills to be successful in their English. I aim to help students who may struggle to concentrate or apply themselves in a class of their peers or provide a more sound understanding for those who would simply like to achieve the grade above.
I truly believe students can enjoy English once they start to access it properly. Lessons should be exciting, diverse and engaging and I always intend to deliver a lesson where the students feel excited to learn.
I can provide homework if requested, use resources specific to their exam board, organise students with a folder and other materials, and also provide additional literacy materials such as appropriate spelling lists and grammar packs.
I believe that being patient and tailoring my teaching to the students` individual needs is paramount to their success. I hope to build confidence through positive reinforcement and teach in a way that helps them to understand things that they may miss in the classroom.
Availability: Available for daytime tuition 8am-4pm
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: I have been teaching for 6 years and I have been second in English and Literacy Coordinator for my school for the last 4 years. I have successfully raised D grade GCSE students to C grade students several years in a row, and I have taught AQA, WJEC and Cambridge igcse exam boards from A* to E grade students.
I have taught students with special educational needs and English as an additional language. I have provided and created resources, provisions and differentiation for students with SEN and EAL based closely on their learning needs.
I have privately tutored students from both state and private schools with great success. I have coordinated all of our school`s KS3 curriculum for the last 3 years and have been in charge of raising attainment through organising forms of intervention to years 7, 8 and 9. I coordinate literacy for all subjects and continuously source ways of ensuring literacy is a key focus across the whole-school curriculum.
