Originally from northern Italy, I am a Teaching Fellow at UCL at the School of European Languages and Cultures. I have a PhD in Comparative Literature from UCL and have been living and working in the UK for 8 years. Prior to this, I have lived in France, Spain and the Dominican Republic.

When it comes to language learning, I can support students with Italian and Spanish from beginner to degree level. I am also a qualified EFL teacher, CELTA qualified with International House, London. As such, I teach English as a foreign language to a wide range of levels.

As for literature, I can guide students of all ages and levels, covering literature from a wide range of languages and genres.

Other areas I cover include Gender Studies, Qualitative Thinking and European Studies.

With a great knowledge of university systems in the UK, Italy and the USA, I am able to support with the university application process of both undergraduates and postgraduates, be that writing your personal statement or providing guidance on your choice of course or field of research, should you be interested in undertaking a PhD.

Experience: Currently a Teaching Fellow at UCL, I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate students for the past 7 years. Regarding Italian language, I cover all key components of language learning: speaking, reading, writing and listening. I run translation classes for undergraduate and postgraduate students covering the theory and practice of translation both from and into Italian.

I am passionate about all things literature and really enjoy working with students to improve their ability to engage with a text. I teach a variety of literature courses including Modern Literary Theory, Comparative Literary Studies and Magic Realism. My research and teaching also stretches beyond literature into other areas of the humanities, focusing particularly on Gender Studies, for example Gender Theory, Politics and Feminism.

Regarding EFL, I am able to empathise with students seeking to improve their English skills for work, studies or pleasure. After all, I`ve been there myself! In the summer of 2019 I worked as an English teacher for International House, with young people aged 15 - 17 from a wide variety of nationalities. I prepared and led interactive and fast-paced classes for students at varied levels and closely monitored their progress throughout the course.

When it comes to preparing lessons, I will always begin by discussing the student`s individual needs and requirements. I tailor classes to suit each individual and use engaging, interactive teaching methods that produce results. I monitor progress and regularly check in with mini tests/catch-ups to ensure students are on the right track.

If you are preparing for an exam with a specific examination board at GCSE of A-Level, I will tailor my classes accordingly. The same applies to university courses, whereby I will align my lessons with the content of your university modules. And of course if you are simply looking to improve your Italian or Spanish, the first lesson will always focus on establishing where your language skills currently sit and how we can work together to improve them, having fun whilst achieving results.
