Information about Andrew
I am a father of two successful children I have achieved a BTEC from Kingston College, a BSc from the University of Surrey, a PgDip from Middlesex University and finally a PGCE from Cambridge University. I enjoy DIY and am a bit of an aviation geek! I currently write a blog and enjoy the delightful garden that has become my sanctuary. I love being in the countryside, walks by the river and spending time with friends and family.
Availability: I am currently available weekdays and evenings.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: After working in a local Playgroup I qualified as a teacher in 2002, training in Middle School (Year 5 - 8) education. I have since specialised in Key Stage 2, teaching Years 5 and 6. During my career I have been a Maths lead, English lead, RE and IT lead. As an ex Assistant Head, I am currently a Senior Teacher / Deputy and have worked in several small Primary Schools with children from very different backgrounds including SEN and Gifted and Talented; I am also the School`s Deputy Child Protection Lead. As a Year 6 Teacher I work closely with the local Secondary Schools, preparing transition work and holding transition meetings to aid the children`s smooth progress to their chosen Secondary School.
I support children through 1:1, small group work and have extensive experience of Key stage 2 SATs. I also write School Policies and manage the volunteers who work both as a part of, and with the school. Whilst the school transitioned from one Headteacher to the next, I filled the vacant post ensuing the safe and smooth running of the school.
My teaching has always been considered to be of a high quality by Ofsted, something I am very proud of. As a long standing school Governor I know the challenges that school`s face, I also know the pressures that children are faced with and have a wealth of teaching experience at my disposal to help them gain an excellent educations whilst dealing with these challenges. I currently work on the Cambridge/Norfolk/Lincoln border where policies can differ considerably! My teaching is child centred, a belief that underpins my varied teaching styles.
