Information about Eleanor
My name is Eleanor, and I`m a French tutor based in London (SW19).
I am currently teaching mostly GCSE and A-level French students, particularly `Sac de Billes`, `La Haine`, and `Intouchables`. I teach both Edexcel and AQA.
I have just completed a duel international PhD in French Literature from the University of Bologna as part of a European Union-funded project, and am now living in London tutoring English and French. I have a CELTA qualification for teaching English as a foreign language. In 2014 I graduated with a First Class Honours in French and a Distinction in spoken French from the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this, I attended St Mary`s School, Ascot, and received 10 A* at French at GSCE (during the era of A* grading) and 4 A`s at A-level (post-A* grading), so I have first-hand experience of French and English literature examinations in the UK. I like to adapt the way I teach to the needs of each individual student - everyone learns differently and at different speeds. I believe that positive and encouraging teaching also helps the student learn quicker and more effectively. I very much enjoy tutoring French in particular, and teach across all proficiencies, from students to directors of global companies.
Availability: Flexible
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I teach both conversation classes to adults and exam preparation classes to young learners, from GCSE French up to University level. I teach English to a range of students. I use a variety of resources to help students reduce grammatical errors, piece together top grade phrases, and maximise their reading and listening comprehension. I also use clips from pop culture (songs, tv shows, films), to help students get their `ear in` and to love the French and English languages as much as I do!
