I have taught Chemistry to all secondary age groups including A level for 20 years. I have been Head of Chemistry and consistently achieved outstanding A level and GCSE results that put the school at the top of the league tables in Cumbria. I have also taught GCSE Physics throughout my career and obtained similarly good results. I have a deep understanding of my subject and of science education in general. I have recently been working in an international school in Uruguay and have gained experience of teaching IB level Chemistry. I have recently returned to the UK and am teaching A level, IB and GCSE Chemistry in a college in Canterbury. Over the years I have built up an effective range of teaching strategies and practical activities to deliver the curriculum to my students and develop a level of understanding that leads to exam success and fosters an enjoyment of science. I have a good appreciation of the misconceptions that students typically encounter and have developed explanations and activities designed to challenge and correct these difficulties. I understand that students have different learning styles and know the importance of approaching a topic with a variety of methods.

Availability: I am currently available at evenings and Weekends. I will also be tutoring during school holidays.
