I have recently completed work towards my Master`s degree at the University of Oxford and am currently awaiting graduation, which is due to take place this August. I previously obtained a Bachelor`s degree in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Cape Town in 2017, and a BSc Honours degree in mathematics from UCT in 2018. Both degrees were awarded with distinction.

I`m South African and also an Irish citizen authorised to work in the UK. I hold a South African driving licence for manual and automatic cars and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services certificate issued in May 2020. I am highly computer-literate and have always been a hard worker.

Availability: I`m available for online tutoring from 4:30pm till the evening every weekday, and from 9am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I`ve done more than 50 hours` maths tutoring work, for students between the ages of 12 and 25, all of whom were personally known to me. This occurred between 2015 and 2019, when I left South Africa to enrol in my Master`s. I`ve also marked entrance tests in mathematics for the Mathematical Institute at Oxford.

I`ve found that students respond well to a direct teaching method: working with pencil and paper, or the online equivalent, and establishing firm mathematical foundations. I believe very strongly in the importance of practice and simple logic in mathematics. Students do not need to be naturally gifted __ in fact in my early school years I was closer to the bottom of mathematics classes than the top, and improved simply through practice and step-by-step understanding. I can`t practice on behalf of students, but I can aid their understanding with clear, uncomplicated teaching.
