I really enjoy helping students to achieve their goals. As an experienced History and Sociology teacher, I am able to use different teaching and learning techniques to help you get to grips with content, to understand what the examiner is looking for, and to help make revision effective and more enjoyable. I am patient, honest and encouraging. I will plan sessions carefully to ensure they are as useful as possible. I was an examiner for GCSE Edexcel Paper 2 Early Elizabethan England and AQA A-Level Sociology Paper 3 Crime and Deviance last summer so have a good idea of what is wanted if you need help with exam technique.

Availability: During term time I am available Mondays and Fridays during the day/ evening as well as Saturdays and Sundays.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time I can offer tutoring after 7pm depending on where you live/ where we meet for tutoring.

During school holidays I am available most of the time.

I offer tutoring at my home in Caversham, Reading, or can meet somewhere in the middle or can come to your home if you leave locally.

Experience: I have taught Edexcel GCSE History for 20 years. I currently have GCSE classes and we cover the units: Weimar and Nazi Germany, Medicine through Time, early Elizabethan England, Superpower Relations and the Cold War. I also examine for Edexcel at GCSE on the Elizabeth Paper 2. I have also taught Crime and Punishment through Time and Vietnam and there are other periods of History I could turn my hand to!

I have taught AQA A-Level Sociology for 7 years and I am currently teaching AQA Year 13 Crime and Deviance. But can also offer: Education, Family & Households, Theory and Methods, and Beliefs in Society. I am an examiner for AQA for the Crime and Deviance unit (Paper 3).

I can offer any Key Stage 3 History, and some English.
