My name is Gabriel. I am from Spain and I am currently living in London.
My Bachelors in History and my Masters in Contemporary History Research, both from Valencia University, as well as the CAP, the Spanish equivalent of the PGCE, and the international challenges I have overcome in my life - one year living, working and studying at the Federico II University in Naples - have prepared me to teach not only history but Spanish and Italian, both of which I speak and write without any problem.
Educating and teaching is what I have always wanted to do. I have taught chess, worked as a private tutor and also taught Universal Contemporary History during my four month internship in IES Amparo Sanz (Albacete, Spain). I have an excellent work ethic, and have worked in a range of jobs - as a waiter, a gardener during the summers and often as a chef. However, I have a passion to teach and so I decided to move to the UK to pursue this goal. For me, teaching is not something in life you do only to earn money. Education is about much more than simply a job – there is an enjoyment, when you are able to teach well, that is very important to me. I especially like working with young people because there is a connection with a different generation and I think this is something important, something that makes you feel alive, that makes easier to you to understand the pass of time. For these reasons, teaching is for me a lifestyle and not only a profession to develop. Teaching history, in particular, permits you to connect with people from the past and understand a common sense of life. Teaching languages allows you to introduce people to your culture and language as well as learning about theirs. To use your life to teach others is ultimately one of the best ways to give meaning to your life and that is the reason why I want to try to teach in the UK.
My experience across the British Curriculum, and the different educational situations and roles I have implemented, has enriched my academical and professional background. The different perspectives and interpretations of the role of a teacher in UK, united to my experience in Spain, have offered me the neccessary strong preparation to deal with Secondary, as well as Primary and SEN educational environments.
