I am a native English speaker, born and raised in Glasgow but graduated from University in London. I tutor in English and Modern Studies full-time from SQA Nat5 to Advanced level.

Friendly, professional demeanour with excellent communication skills, I easily relate to young adults, developing their confidence and ability in their subjects. Getting across what the examiner is looking for in a fully developed answer is part of the issues which many candidates, in my experience, fail to fully appreciate. I will endeavour to get this across to all my students and will provide prepared material and handouts, making the learning process somewhat easier.

Close reading skills in understanding, critical analysis and evaluation will be honed and further developed. Critical essay skills will also be developed - 1. know your Question, 2. Plan your answer and 3. Know the writers techniques.
