Information about Mark

I`m a friendly, understanding and patient tutor with a first-class Mechanical Engineering Masters degree from the University of Brighton and a big passion for what I study and teach. Maths, physics and engineering have always been where my keen interest lies and I have pursued them in academics, but I also enjoy music (playing guitar as an amateur), cooking a lot and sports when I have time. I think it is really important to keep a clear mind with hobbies and leisure to perform best when working.

With my recent degree I have just come up through the education system and have an up-to-date understanding of the content. In school, I won an award for the highest maths grade in the year, was invited to join a top 5% Maths gifted and talented academy, and won a gold award in the Senior Maths Challenge.

I`m excited by the prospect of boosting people`s grades with the knowledge I have and would love to help anyone who thinks I can help them! I tutor Maths and Physics up to GCSE level and Engineering up to degree level, and can also teach various engineering software such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, PVSol, GT Suite and MATLAB. Just ask!!

Availability: I have regular sessions booked in weekly but some are flexible, so just message me to find out if I am free when you require tuition. Generally, I tutor from afternoon to evening to allow preparation time, and can do weekends.

Please note: One-off sessions might have slightly different rates than my regular price as they generally take more preparation time and it is not as time-efficient for me.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: Having graduated recently, I have accumulated just over 100 hours of formal tuition with fantastic response and great progress. With only 5* reviews, you can check what my students have to say!

I also have a vast amount of informal experience tutoring colleagues from my university when concepts or problems were not fully understood, and I appreciate the value I can bring to people in this manner. I have assisted Brighton and Hove VI Form college (BHASVIC) to understand how to design and build a competitive race car (which was taken to Silverstone), and have grown up with younger siblings who I have always tried to help with studies. You can be confident that I have learned how to explain concepts at a basic level and in various different ways for most to understand!

In terms of my resources, I have produced revision sheets for every GCSE Maths topic and can take them to students struggling with anything for a simple way to explain things. For GCSE Physics, I have wrote my own personal full revision book with diagrams, questions and colours to comprehensively but simply lay out all of the content in a way that I can teach it the best! I access various free worksheets and past papers when practice is required. Engineering tuition is more tailored to the work at the time, because it can cover anything from mechanical systems to business to MATLAB, but I will always prepare notes and revision content in advance.
