Hi I`m Alessandra,

I am a highly experienced and extremely passionate English Literature and Language teacher.

I strive to inspire my students and motivate them to develop their own confidence in their skills in reading, writing and approaches to texts. I am dedicated to ensuring that my students’ learning is engaging and fun. I pride myself in my ability to modify and accommodate my lessons for students` learning abilities, as well as stretching and challenging them to meet their full potential. I encourage all my students to develop resilience and a positive work ethic. During my 1:1 tuition sessions, I support my students in establishing meaningful study habits and routine.

I tailor and personalise my tuition lessons to my students’ specific needs and particular areas of English with which they are struggling. I am happy to set homework and mark work that is completed. My students are invited to contact me between sessions if they have any questions with which they need help.

Availability: Monday to Thursday afternoon school / evenings

Experience: I have 12 years of teaching experience ranging from KS3, GCSE and A level in both English Literature and Language. I have a specialist degree in English Literature and Language. I am originally from Toronto, Canada where I taught for the first four years of my career. I have been teaching in North London for the last eight years - from KS3 - KS5. I also currently work as a Head of Year in Sixth Form.

I have tutored for eight years, for 11+, KS3, GCSEs and A levels in both Literature and Language. I acquire new students each year through word of mouth and outstanding recommendations. All my students that I have tutored have achieved above their target grade in English. They have all felt extremely confident going into their exams and extremely proud of themselves following their exams.

I have also worked as an AQA GSCE English Literature examiner for two years. This experience allowed me to develop a detailed understanding of examiners expectations of students’ essay writing and subject knowledge. I am extremely confident in my understanding of what students need to achieve a grade 9 / A* in both English Literature and Language.

Each summer, I dedicate time to my own professional development and training in my subject to ensure my lessons are innovative and engaging. With my sixth form pastoral experience, I am able to assist in other elements of academic and school life in my tuition, such as personal statements and UCAS applications.

I thoroughly enjoy working 1:1 with students, I find it meaningful and impactful. I am extremely proud of the impact and support I offer each and every one of my students and their outcomes reflect this.
