Experienced teacher (QTS) & headteacher (NPQSL), rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. I teach children aged 7-13 English & Maths.

I specialise in helping children who’ve lost confidence or have fallen behind. I can also support with exam prep (including SATS, 11+ & Common Entrance).

I have taught groups of all sizes (from 1:1 up to classes of 35), achieving excellent outcomes in some of the UK`s most deprived areas.

As well as a qualification in school senior leadership (NPQSL), I have Qualified Teacher Status and a BA Hons (2:1) in English. I have also led Mathematics across whole schools of up to 900 pupils.

I have high expectations of my students: studies on the Pygmalion Effect have shown that what a teacher believes their pupils are capable (or not capable) of has a direct influence upon what they are able to achieve.

I also believe that learning should be fun - this leads to higher intrinsic motivation, increased engagement and better retention - and, when done well, should raise a child`s self-esteem in the process.

With the above in mind, I always begin by learning as much as I can about my students - from their hobbies and interests to their areas of strength and - most importantly - areas for development.

I then tailor bespoke lessons to address these gaps in knowledge or understanding, while tapping into my students` interests as much as possible along the way.
