Information about Ilana

Teaching has always been my passion and my ambition. I have a particular passion for enthusing children with a love of the written word in all forms, and enabling them to develop their own analytical skills. My extensive and diverse roles over the last 20 years include: large group teaching in a primary school setting founding and developing my own chain of nurseries tutoring children from ages five to twelve in their own homes teaching home educated children both individually and in small groups, as well as teaching my own children all core curriculum subjects.

My experience has reinforced my knowledge that children learn best in a one to one setting, with individually tailored programmes that cater for their specific learning style. By assessing how a child learns most effectively, and tailoring the teaching towards this, I can maximise the benefits they receive. Keeping the learning fun and stimulating through activities they find motivating is also key.

I am a 7+, 8+ and 11+ exam specialist with extensive experience of top London schools including UCS, Westminster Under, St Paul`s, Highgate, and South Hampstead. I write my own 7+/8+ practice papers, conduct educational assessments for children to determine suitability for entrance exams, as well as deliver workshops to other tutors on how to teach for entrance exams.
