With over 30 years in teaching I am very experienced and have the patience to help overcome dozens of problems children encounter. I enjoy teaching and have helped children aged 9-16 improve in English and English Literature, to great success in their exams. I also prepare children for 11+ exams.
I am a friendly but firm teacher, and I always succeed in building an improved attitude to English.
I can also offer Drama and Theatre Studies tutoring for A level candidates.
I have a recent DBS certificate.

Availability: Daytime for children not in school plus a few remaining sessions 3-8.30pm Monday-Thursday or Saturday mornings.

Experience: Previously I have been a secondary school and Sixth form college teacher of English and Theatre Studies, I have been teaching over 30 years and have been very successful with all age groups. As head of department I have an excellent overview as well as the capability to adapt to children`s differing needs and styles of learning, as well as completely up to date in terms of syllabus and exam technique,
I have been teaching one to one over the last six years, often liaising with the student`s school English teacher in order to accelerate compatible areas for improvement.
I have knowkedge and skills in approaching the new GCSE, which is creating quite a challenge in schools.
