Information about Kai
Hi, my name is Kai. I am a 24 year old studying for a PhD in Medical Physics at UCL and I am available for tutoring services in Physics and Mathematics up to degree level standard and any science or maths up to GCSE standard.
Academic background:
I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2019 in Natural Sciences meaning that I simultaneously studied physics and maths up to masters level. I now routinely deal with advanced maths and physics concepts for my day to day work meaning that I am very familiar with everything in physics and maths up to and including A level standard and a good amount up to and including bachelors/masters degree standard.
Teaching style:
I am very calm and friendly and I have no problem explaining difficult concepts in a multitude of ways using both aural and visual aids to try and help with learning. I understand that some ideas can be non-intuitive for a number of reasons and I am very comfortable trying to relate these concepts to more everyday experiences. I will always try and tailor my tutoring style to the learning needs of the student.
I am very happy to work through provided material with students or to come up with some example problems of my own. I willl endevour to familiarise myself with whatever exams/exam board the student is with in order to make sure I tailor my teaching in the right way. As someone who didn`t take their exams that long ag, I am familiar with the nature of an exam board mark scheme.
I would preferably like to discuss the needs of the student before arranging a tutoring session so that I can be sure that I am the best person for the job!
Thanks for reading my bio and I look forward to hearing from you! Please feel free to ask me any questions or open a discussion about anything you like - I want to make sure that I am the best person to suit your needs.
Availability: I am generally available on weekdays at most times - please see my availibility calendar for more information.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: My tutoring experience includes one year of teaching assistance with undergraduate modules at UCL and I have also recently started the day to day supervision of a work volunteer in my lab at UCL. I also regularly explain a number of different concepts to my colleagues at work as I work in a very interdisciplinary environment where scientific discussion is always encouraged.
My academic experience is as follows:
Currently studying for a PhD in Medical Physics.
1st Class Masters and Bachelors in Natural Sciences from the University of Leeds.
Chemistry, Physics and Maths A levels (A*, A, A*) respectively.
Further Maths and Politics AS levels (A,A) respectively.
11 GCSEs including English, Maths and Science (5 A*s and 6 As).
