Information about Harvie

I have a keen interest in learning languages, other cultures, and travelling and my hobbies include photography, art, sports and athletics, and music. I have a BSc (Hons) in Meteorology and Oceanography taking modules in Probability, Fluid Dynamics, Mechanics and Modelling and Applied Physics. I also obtained a MSc Mathematical Sciences in Network Science focusing on Graph Theory, Complex Systems, and Computational Statistics.

As well as tutoring maths for over 5 years, I am also a qualified TEFL teacher having taught English to school children in Central America and I am also currently teaching in Spain. I teach both children (ages ranging from 5 to 11) and professionals (ranging from lawyers to retailers).

Availability: Weekdays evenings

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I have tutored KS3 and KS4 maths for over 5 years and also GCSE maths for 2 years. In addition, I spent 10 years studying the Kumon Mathematics Programme ranging from elementary, primary, GCSE, GCE, and further advanced topics, which I graduated in 2012. Alongside studying the Programme, I assisted the instructor in marking, correcting, and helping student’s work.

I have experience tutoring on a one-to-one level and in groups, where the largest group I have taught in a classroom was 15 students. The children I tutor range in ages where the youngest one is 5 years old. For some children I tutor on a regular basis, there were occasions where I would simply play games with them for the whole session. For this parent in particular, the goal was to provide a private tutor, but also to bond with the children by incorporating fun and one-off sessions where we played games, whilst targeting specific English language. Another parent was proud of their child`s progress that I got invited to the parent`s evening so I could hear about the teacher`s praise.
