Information about Htet
Hi there! I am currently a third-year student studying Medicine at Imperial College London. I am easily approachable and sensible in my lesson deliveries. I find it of great importance to bolster a student`s confidence by being a good listener so they feel at east to ask questions and pursue their targets. I enjoy developing a nurturing bond with my students and this also comes naturally to me as I enjoy teaching.
Approach: My style of tutoring involves tailoring the teaching to meet the student`s needs using different aids. This allows the student to go at the pace that is best for them and to learn in a manner which not only makes it easy but also enjoyable. I strive to instill a passion in the students I teach and a love for learning which is an attitude I hope stays with them for the rest of their careers. I believe an understanding of the basic principles is a vital foundation which I will continually build on with my students. And I like to patiently empower the student to gain a thorough understanding of such basic concepts.
Availability: Available both in weekday evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: Despite being a busy medical student at Imperial, I am an experienced tutor with GCSEs, A-levels as well as medical school entrance exams (UKCAT, BMAT having done them myself) and different types of medical school interviews. Importantly, I am familiar with recent changes to A-Levels. Furthermore, I have been trained by my local City Council as an academic alumni mentor in my school. Having tutored for over 2 years, I have taught a wide range of academic subjects including Biology, Chemistry and Maths to students of different ages and varying capabilities.
Advice with applying for medicine: Having coached prospective medical students yearly with my medical school`s outreach programmes, I can offer up-to-date insider advice regarding medical school application processes (deadlines to meet, how to prepare for the entrance exams UKCAT, BMAT as well as for the dreaded medical interview. Having personally experienced different types of medical interviews, I can offer balanced information to suit the student. I have also been invited to sit on my medical school`s interview panel which has enabled me to gain proper understanding of the admission process and how to succeed the medical school interview.
Teaching at medical school: I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching since I was sitting my A-levels, when at the time, I would be teaching GCSE students. This isn`t any different at medical school either. I regularly deliver tutorials to my fellow younger medical students on topics they have found difficult, as well as passing down my coursework and notes to the younger years. I am a regular tutor with the Asian Medical Students Association Academics society at Imperial for medicine modules in University. I also volunteer for outreach programmes into London secondary schools and sixth forms to increase access into applying for medicine; programmes vary from educational topical medicine to practical aspects of every day life of a medical student in hospital.
