Hello, my name is Garrett. I have been working in ESL/EFL for about 12 years now. I have extensive experience teaching English to students from all over the world. I taught in South Korea, China, and Argentina for several years, as well as in Ireland. I have also published more than 70 ESL books on ESL tests, grammar, speaking and writing - these include TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, among many others.


I am a friendly and professional teacher, with a degree in English and a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics. I understand the difficulties that students from different countries experience - I have studied Spanish, Korean, Gaelic and Chinese, so I know how languages are very different! I understand that students learn in different ways, so I can change my style to help each individual student.
Some students want to improve their general English ability - and I can help you with this by teaching you and practicing the important things you need to know in English.
Other students feel like their English is already good, but cannot do well on tests! I can help you learn to use the English you know in these stressful tests, and teach you other test skills to improve your score with the English you already know.

I am very patient, and I have experience teaching adults and children of all ages. I am happy to teach people for tests, as a language for communicating in, or for other specific purposes. I provide high quality lessons for students. I have developed many different books, materials and courses over the years, and I provide these materials along with my classes.

I specialize in speaking and writing for language tests, I have given presentations in Japan, Korea and the UK on changes and developments in speaking and writing. If you need to take IELTS, TOEFL or any of the Cambridge exams, I can help you with grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and how you answer the question. I have worked with many students who spoke English well, but had difficulties with one specific aspect of the test. I can help you, not only with English, but with the test skills you need.

I also proof read essays, theses and dissertations for students doing degrees, Masters or PhDs.
