Information about Harry
I have a Certificate of Higher Education from Brunel University London for completing a year and a half of a Mathematics degree. I am very interested in teaching, and I believe that the best way to learn is a very individual process. The current schooling system is very universal, while mathematics is a complicated subject, and I don`t think these two things align. Understanding the basics is key to understanding mathematics, so I believe that building a solid foundation is the best way to form the best bond with knowledge.
Availability: I am studying in Peckham from Monday to Friday 9am-6pm, I am free to work weekends and evenings.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I have previously worked with two students: the former being an A-level student who pushed from a grade B to a grade A; the latter, a GCSE student who required a grade 4 to pass (previous grading system grade C) who was sitting on a 2 (previous grading system high E grade). Working with the GCSE student, I pushed him to pass his GCSE Maths and he achieved a grade 4 after bi-weekly sessions with myself from September through to June.
My philosophy for teaching is that everyone is an individual. Those who are struggling with maths aren`t bad at maths, they`re often not being told clearly enough what is going on. I approach each student with an individual mindset, and firstly find out whether I am a good fit for that student, then create a pathway for moving forward with their learning methods.
