I am a Doctor in Ecology. My doctoral research involved analysing the biological control potential of sheet-weaving spiders to crop pests within cereal crops. I have a Masters in Ecology and a first class bachelors degree with honours in Rural Resource Management. I have a keen interest in all environmental science subjects.

I immensely enjoy guiding students on their learning journey and have the strong belief education is fundamental in the growth of a person, where individuals grow to be dynamic and innovative. Learning should be fun, inclusive to all and enable a young person to express their aspirations.

I specialise in teaching further and higher education students.

Availability: I am very flexible with my availability. I am available mornings, afternoons and evenings except Thursday morning and afternoon and Friday morning. I am available at weekends.

Experience: I have a level 3 Award in Education and Training.

When carrying out my doctoral research I have carried out teaching at Myerscough College University Centre and University of Central Lancashire to ages 14 to 16, further and higher education students. I have taught Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science and Animal Behaviour. I have carried out practical lessons in laboratory demonstrations in microbiology and environmental science, for example soil and plant interactions and testing water for acidity and pollutants. I am versed in chromatography applications and have used several liquid chromatography mass spectrometer techniques in my academic career.

I have been a dissertation supervisor to third year degree students. I have knowledge of the dissertation process from ethics to statistics. I have given personal tutorials in statistics. I have been a proof reader at university and an internal verifier for the masters course in Integrated Crop Management at Myerscough College university centre. I ensured module content was set correctly according to Learning Outcomes and assignments marked to the specifications set by the awarding body.

I immensely enjoy community engagement roles. As part of the outreach team for the University of Central Lancashire I volunteered to promote research at the Journal of Young Scientist event. Here I created workshops and interactive quizzes, the aim being to enable young people to communicate their career aspirations and discuss how they could be involved in academic research.

I have acquired excellent written and oral skills through presenting at twelve conferences within my doctoral research, communicating key findings and the conclusions drawn from this. I have gained strong communication skills from my voluntary work with the Samaritans.
