I am an experienced, skilled, flexible, and enthusiastic practitioner who has outstanding teaching and managerial experience.

My specialism is in history with additional teaching experience of RE, geography, English and various other subjects across KS3 and KS4. I also have a TEFL qualification.

I am strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of both young people and staff.

I have recent experience of tutoring smaller groups and on a one-to-one basis, which I have found to be an excellent opportunity to offer personalised and effective learning to young people and to build strong relationships.

Developed and designed inspiring content - Created and developed accessible, inclusive, and challenging lessons, schemes of work and revision resources across a range of humanities subjects for KS3, KS4 and KS5 in mainstream and compensatory settings.

Managerial Experience –As head of year and Education Programme Manager, I led teams of tutors and year groups of 180 students. As assistant head of history, I helped run an outstanding department contributing to the wider planning and delivering of KS3, KS4 and KS5 schemes of work. I regularly conducted meetings to ensure the academic and social progress of all students. I also successfully mentored members of staff as an NQT (EQT) mentor.

Strong organisations skills – Successful head of year and programme manager running staff, student and parent meetings while remaining dedicated to my outstanding classroom teaching and tutoring, fulfilling many roles as a professional leader.

Effective use of data– adept use of progress data while liaising and working with senior leadership, SEN co-ordinators, parents, and outside agencies. Focused on raising the attainment of each cohort.

Implementation of new initiative- As head of year, I played an integral part of embedding the practice of restorative justice within a school. This taught staff and students mutual respect and bred an environment of resolution, understanding and cohesion.

Inspiring young people - Played a vital role in recruiting GCSE students for history by creating and delivering recruitment assemblies and GCSE taster lessons, which resulted in our department having the highest uptake in students. Instilled confidence and resilience in GCSE students as part of mentor scheme ‘Wishing on A*’ where I mentored borderline students across their subjects in preparation for their exams.

Managed an education team of tutors to implement and deliver compensatory education as part of a bespoke education programme to help young players across years 8 to 11, to discover and explore their core strengths, as well as to develop their self-esteem, positive behaviour, and increased confidence. This included ensuring the provision of personalised educational support, including those with learning difficulties or those who may be particularly gifted.

Created and collated a wealth of well organised resources and assessment material for KS3 and KS4 history and RE. As head of year 7, liaised with primary schools and organised information acquired from primary schools to form successful tutor groups. Scrutinised the KS2 work of future students to understand the ability of year 7 students. As head of year 7 and 9, managed a team of tutors and conducted regular meetings to ensure the academic and social progress of all students. Adept at using progress data to identify individuals and groups of students, with attention on SEN, EAL and disadvantaged students and those with low attendance. Implemented intervention such as targeted academic reports, parent meetings and one to one discussion. Dedicated to inspiring confidence and instilling elevated expectations for all students.
