Hi, my name is Rob and I`m a qualified maths teacher specialising in primary and secondary maths up to GCSE level. I`m a friendly, patient tutor and passionate about inspiring young people to see the relevance of maths in real-life, and how it can help them in their future careers.

Tutoring Approach
For students who lack confidence and find it all rather daunting, I can break it down into simple steps to build up your understanding and confidence in a fun and relaxed environment. Many students are reluctant to put up their hands and ask a question in front of the whole class. It is much less intimidating in an informal and friendly one-to-one situation.
Similarly, for those who are already on or exceeding their targets, I can give the extra boost and help build a deeper understanding to make sure you succeed.
For those approaching important exams we can focus on exam technique. This is something that is rarely taught well in schools, and having marked many exam papers it can be very frustrating trying to follow all the steps a student has gone through when answering more complex questions. Examiners are only human and when an answer is set out in the correct clear and logical way it can make a significant difference to how they mark your paper.

Availability: Most weekdays from 5pm onwards.

Experience: I`ve been teaching maths for 10 years in and around Sheffield. I am married and we have one daughter who I recently helped prepare for her year 6 SATs. Prior to becoming a maths teacher I taught English in companies in Japan for 6 years. At that time I also taught private lessons to children and adults.
When not teaching I enjoy fell running and drinking tea.
