Hello, I hope you are keeping well.
I am a mature English tutor and writer based in Oxford, England.
I have a first degree in PPE and a PGCE in English (Oxon) and a previous business career. I am a native speaker but have experience of teaching many for whom English is not their first language.
I really enjoy working with all young people on their English literature, language and creative writing.
I have a friendly and compassionate style yet work towards firm progress and results.
Availability: As per calendar - updated regularly

Experience: I currently tutor a number of local students working towards their GCSE English - both literature and language and have produced tangible uplifts in their grades and confidence.
I volunteer at a local state school and do a weekly reading for a looked after child via The Reader.
I am a published poet.

Jane has been absolutely wonderful with our child. She was exactly what we were looking for. Our child was 6 years old and sitting for the highly competitive 7-plus school entrance examinations in the Spring term of this year. We had three months to prepare her. When our child met Jane she was scoring below national average. With Jane`s incredible support, our child has managed to score in the top percentile and secure a spot at every school - three top schools in the Oxford area. We are so grateful to Jane for her diligent, tailored and nurturing approach. She made each session a joy for our child, who was previously reluctant to be tutored. Our child was asking for longer sessions each time, and when a 6 year old asks for more tutoring, then this is a clear sign of a fantastic tutor! We can not recommend Jane enough - thank you for everything.

We engaged Jane as a tutor for our 12-year old son to help him improve his English literature and language. She is an excellent tutor; highly motivated, patient, thoughtful and organised. Lessons are always prepared in advance, and she arrives early to every session. My son has benefitted hugely from working with her; we can see a clear improved in his work. She is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of language and literature. We highly recommend her as a tutor.
