Information about George
I am a PhD student at the University of Sheffield, and have an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University. Previously I have completed a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering at Brunel University after which I transitioned to industry for a year. I re-joined academia to pursue my passions in research in Mechanical Engineering and encouraging a new generation of stem students, finding I could not achieve these personal goals elsewhere.
I have experience tutoring since my A-Levels where I tutored from primary to GCSE level, During my MSc I began tutoring Degree and A-Level students. I feel the experience I have gained through my academic career has allowed me to understand these students and their struggle better, allowing me to better aid students with their learning desires.
During teaching, I like to focus on understanding the fundamental principles of a problem through application and analysis of real-world instances the student is likely to be familiar with. While this can appear daunting, by the end of a session students form a strong understanding and can recognise problems and solutions in their day-to-day lives.
Additionally, I hope to help aspiring STEM student in meeting their potential and offering advice on the paths they can take and what the world of professional and academic engineering is like. Through answering questions and supplying further guidance.
