Information about Stephane

I`m a French native speaker, born in Toulouse., in the south of France.
I emigrated to Australia in my mid-20s and have called Britain home since 2000.

Based in Baldock, Hertfordshire and willing to tutor students locally (Baldock-Letchworth area and possibly Hitchin).

I offer one-to-one tutoring ONLINE via Skype
As comfortable with children of all ages as I am with adults who may have more professional or social needs.
I`m very easygoing, yet experienced and confident to deliver the results my students expect.

Languages should be fun and enjoyable to learn, never a burden. In that respect, I always make sure to be teaching practical French, as much as possible.

>>>I already have a few students enrolled for the coming term but still have availability most days.

++ LENGTH of lessons and RHYTHM:
I am well aware of the personal investment a tutor is for parents or adults investing in themselves.
I would advise that the strict minimum of tutoring for school follow-up tutoring/ exam preparation should be no less than ONE hour/week.
Nevertheless, I would recommend an ongoing 2 -3 hours/week to see more significant and faster results.
This is especially true for total beginners, who require solid and sustained early teaching to build up a solid basis.

++ TRAVEL:
Since the pandemic started, I`ve switched to 100% ONLINE tutoring on Skype, finding it to be a method that doesn`t affect teaching benefits and enjoyment. If anything, it`s easier to start and finish lessons on time and I can in term be more flexible with availability slots.

* I hold a current ENHANCED DBS Check
** To offset the cost of purchasing my details and to allow for a good understanding, I offer on our first contact, a half-hour lesson for free. This way my students/their parents can judge if I am a good fit for them.

Availability: * Lessons are on weekdays
* I CURRENTLY have availability on some weekday mornings or all afternoons. When available, last lesson of the day would be 6-7pm.
* If and when tutoring in person can resume safely, I`d likely be available to tutor here at home in Baldock.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I started teaching about 25 years ago in France and have had experience tutoring children, teenagers and adults alike.
I was an English language instructor for the French army in my 20s.
I also have experience as a translator for private companies.
A few years ago, I taught French classes at the Fairfield Park Lower School in Stotfold, near Letchworth

Currently, I am:
- Helping teenagers prepare for their A-Levels
- Teaching working adults during the day and evenings.
