Information about Renee
Hi, I`m Renee, I am slightly unusual in that I tutor in both Science and English subjects. I cover all exam boards across these subjects and specialise in essay writing skills as I taught academic writing at London Metropolitan University for 15 years. I am also a highly experienced EAP/EFL teacher and former Cambridge English Language examiner. Altogether 24 years for formal teaching which reflects a varied background and a number of subjects.
Most of my students are either GCSE or A-Level but I am frequently asked to assist both younger and older students including university students (up to Masters degree in essay writing skills), students applying for entrance to private schools, and primary level students.
My approach to tutoring an academic subject is to provide a structured lesson on a topic in accordance with the exam board specification. For Science and English Literature lessons, I will assess the student`s abilities during the first lesson and make adjustments to the delivery accordingly. For EFL, if no IELTS test has been taken recently, I will initially provide a short diagnostic test prior to the lesson as well as assessment during the first lesson.
I always round off my lessons with exam practice anyway but I am quite happy to work through exam papers only with students if that is what they want to do. Sometimes students want help writing assignments rather than course revision.
I will discuss the plan with you the first time we meet and we can make any adjustments needed. Initially, I would deliver a structured interactive lesson designed to improve a student`s knowledge of a subject and their exam/writing skills.

Renee tutored my son in A-level English Literature for 9 months and really helped him develop his analytical and essay writing skills, as-well as exam technique in a range of genres including poetry, drama, and science-fiction novels. She is a knowledgeable, professional and enthusiastic tutor who provides constant and useful feedback. Her hard work and guidance helped him to improve his A level grade. My son said she was by far the best of all his tutors.

We first engaged with Renee` after mildly disappointing results achieved by my Daughter Ciara about 1 year out from Ciara`s GCSEs. After approximately 3 to 4 weeks after lessons commenced we could see Ciara`s confidence start to grow and the partnership flourish, then over the past year we have seen Ciara`s results climb steadily from being bottom end of the class to the top. We received Ciara`s English Literature (9) and Language (8) results on Thursday 21st August and we were all over the moon with Ciara getting top marks. I will say this with absolute confidence that Renee played a massive part in tutoring, driving, instilling confidence as well as building a fantastic partnership to help Ciara achieve these grades. I would highly/strongly recommend Renee for your child/children`s education.
