Information about Laura
My name is Laura, I have a BSc Biological Sciences (Cellular and Molecular Biology) and I studied for a PGCE in Secondary Science (Biology) at The University of Warwick. I have a wide range of teaching experience having taught all areas of the science curriculum at KS3 and KS4, and Biology at KS5. I am passionate about all aspects of Science and education in general. I have two small children so am not teaching professionally at the moment but I have a dedicated learning space separate from the family part of my house to use for tuition. I am a naturally patient and enthusiastic teacher who has had success getting even the most disengaged students to enjoy and learn from my lessons.
Availability: My normal availability is weekday evenings for regular sessions, holiday and weekend intensive courses are also available.
I am currently taking bookings for regular sessions for the 2016/17 academic year.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring for the last three academic years and have been able to make a real contribution to all the students I have tutored. In my first year of tutoring I did a short course of sessions in the run up to the summer exams, one student resat an exam from January after four weeks with me and went from an E to a B in that exam. I have helped students with all areas of their academic courses from teaching them bits of the syllabus from scratch if they have been left out to helping them write their personal statements for their UCAS form, from helping them plan coursework to teaching them memory aids and exam technique. Every student is different and the benefit of working with individuals or small groups is I can tailor my methods to their needs so they can get the maximum out of each session.

Izzie loves Laura. The lessons are serious but fun. She said 2 x 5 hr revision sessions with Laura had taught her more GCSE science than all her year 10 and year 11 sessions put together. Thanks Laura we owe you!
