Information about Shaun
Hi, I am new to this website, but I`m a fully-qualified `English as a Foreign Language` tutor in with 15 years` experience in education. I offer one-to-one online lessons to all ages and abilities. My expertise is the social use of language and I have a great understanding of all aspects of English language and English culture.
I love to meet new people and try to be exceptionally helpful in my work. I use Zoom, PowerPoint and Google Classroom to offer clear and straightforward lessons, supported by good-quality homework resources.
First consultations are free and we can work together to develop a programme to suit your individual needs.
I`ve had a varied career: before I became a tutor I was a factory worker, postman, supermarket worker, delivery driver and national project manager. I`m also a dad and grandad. My home is a narrowboat on the River Lee in Essex, but I spend a lot of time in Lancashire where my family live. My hobbies include street photography, reading, running half-marathons (including Barcelona, Hamburg, Stockholm, Monaco and Edinburgh) and current affairs.
I have a current DBS on the update service.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Currently teaching English as a foreign language to adults in Hertfordshire. I also teach Functional Skills and assist in developing teaching materials and assessing teaching standards. I`ve worked for the same skills provider for 5 years.
Before that, I taught English at Alternative Provision schools from 2009 to 2018, working with vulnerable children in care, children with behaviour problems and children with serious medical conditions. My first teaching jobs were in English High schools where I taught English between 2008 and 2009.
Before going into education, I had a long a varied career and I`ve done a wide range of jobs. This has given me lots of life-experience that I bring to my role as a tutor.
DBS Check: Yes
