Information about Alice
I am a recent graduate from the University of Birmingham where I studied History and achieved a First. During my time there, I specialised in Modern History and covered a vast span of topics, from politics, modern warfare and gender relations. I therefore am confident in not only my subject, but the academic skills that provide a foundation for educational success, such as research skills, essay writing and structure and gleaming information from large volumes of work.
I also obtained A`s in my History, Government and Politics and English Literature A-Levels, and 4 A*s, 6 As and 1 B at GCSE.
I consider myself personable, an attentive listener and strive for the best; I translate this into my tutoring to create stimulating, dynamic, considerate and successful classes that are both enjoyable and informative for the recipient. I would be more than willing to help you out in any Humanity or Essay-writing areas.
My teaching is tailored to each individual, so our first lesson together will involve me understanding your academic strengths, what you`d like to achieve, and what ways of learning you find most stimulating. Then I tend to put together detailed lesson plans and aims for the student, which will allow us to track and recognise progress, as well as keep lessons dynamic. My lessons involve a mixture of interaction, practise, questions, general guidance, reviewing work and so on.
My lessons can be as broad or specialised as is required. Not only am I able to assist with subject-specific knowledge, but also essay writing. My tips span from research methods, maintaining a consistent argument, interweaving a counter argument, general writing skills, how to write a successful introduction or conclusion or how to understand an exam/essay question.
I am keen to work both with you and for you, so our lessons will be personalised and specialised. I work outside of hours to look at my produced work and am happy to proofread and make suggestions on this, to improve both your written work and subject-specific knowledge.

Experience: I have a varied and vast experience in mentoring peers and young people:
- I worked as a University student ambassador for three years. This involved leading a group of prospective students round campus, leading and assisting talks with tutors and responding to questions from both students and parents.
- I tutored English IGCSE to a student, with teaching focussed around exam technique, andspecific literature.
- I ran a three day course at my place of work, to inform and teach two managers about my area of responsibility. I always make clear lesson plans and keep my teaching interactive.
- I was also voted Head Girl during my school years. This involved me tutoring students that were struggling with Humanities subjects in the lower school. I like to set clear aims in order to recognise progress and enjoy engaging with each new student.
