Information about Jack

I am an incoming academic foundation doctor at North West London having completed a six-year medical MBBS degree at Imperial College London. I have also achieved multiple distinctions and a 1st class honours in BSc on Reproductive and Developmental Sciences.

I have 8 years of private tutoring experiences and worked with over 60 students in total. I am also heavily involved in medical education too, teaching over 100 students across different medical topics ranging from preclinical to clinical content.

During college, I gained straight As at AS level. I received an average of 97.8% across the 5 science subjects (math, further math, biology, chemistry and physics). I have also achieved Gold awards at the British Biology Olympiad , Senior Math Challenge and the International Chemistry Olympiad.

I gained 600/600 full UMS in A level Maths, 97% in A level Further Maths, 96.7% in Chemistry, 96% in Physics and 93% in Biology overall. I received 7A* and 2As in my IGCSE (CIE board), in which I received top score in Mathematics in the world.

I am fluent in both English and Chinese, and I can tailor the lessons to focus on whatever students want to learn about.

My approach is tailored to the needs and preferences of the student. Lessons can include:
- Recapping material covered in class
- Going through homework
- Focusing on difficult concepts
- Past exam questions & exam technique

I believe the key to success in exams is frequent practice and excellent answering technique.

Experience: I have 8 years of tutoring experiences and worked with over 60 students in total. Throughout the years, I have become more specialised in GCSEs, Alevels, medical school admission tests, interview coaching and career mentoring.

My past experience working with aspiring medical students in sixth formers has been a great success. I have successful coached more than 12 students in medical admission tests and interviews, some of the students have received their top choice medical schools respectively: Imperial College London, University College London, Bart and London School of Medicine, University of St Andrews and Southampton University.

In recent years, I offer bespoke medical school entrance 1:1 advice, ranging from application strategy, personal statement workshops, BMAT and UCAT 1:1 coaching and mock-interviews. Having sat in the panel and worked with many medical students, I am equipped to offer professional advice on medical school application and how to do well beyond that.

During the time at sixth form, I am lucky enough to tutor a young boy to prepare for his iGCSE Chemistry and Biology Exam two hours every week for 5 months. In the meanwhile, I also supervised his progress on iGCSE physics. He has successfully received a prize of best performance in Sciences (3 Sciences with the Highest Average) in his school.

Having adapted from the change in GCSE and ALEVEL examination system, I have tutored more students on physics, biology and chemistry - two students have gained 9s on all three subjects in IGCSE.

During the summer, I successfully received a full time job teaching A level Maths, Chemistry, Physics, IELTS and Toefl English in a tutorial institution in Zhuhai, China for 3 weeks. It was a challenge for me teaching full time and preparing lessons every day to meet the demand of the students. In the end, it was a rewarding experience for me. I can speak Chinese and English fluently so I can teach the subjects in both languages. I enjoy teaching English to non-native speakers having achieved an 8 overall in IELTS.

All in all, I had experience teaching:
-Edexcel Maths (from GCSE to Alevel)
-Edexcel and AQA Biology (GCSE)
-OCR and AQA Biology (Alevel)
-Edexcel and AQA Chemistry (from GCSE to Alevel)
-AQA and Edexcel Physics (GCSE and Alevel).
-Chinese GCSE and beyond
-CIE exam board (all science subjects)
-ILETS and TOEFL English for non-native speakers
-BMAT, UKCAT, NSAA
-Medicine Admission Interview Practice

I am happy to receive any request from whatever exam board. Although the curriculum differs slightly, I am able to adjust and deliver the best method of teaching to tutees.
