I have a lot of experience teaching students aged 16 and over at GCSE level and A level English.I am familiar with the new GCSE syllabus and have successfully coached students through its requirements enabling them to achieve an above average mark.

I have also helped younger students to overcome barriers in their English studies and to gain confidence in writing and reading skills.

I have a friendly yet professional approach and aim to build a climate of trust with students so that they can openly discuss elements of English that they find troublesome. I have worked as a moderator for leading exam board so I have a thorough understanding of how to achieve higher grades.

I worked at a further education college for 15 years and understand how to build on existing skills and give positive, constructive feedback. I am happy to visit your home in order to support the study of English.

Experience: I was an English teacher for 15 years in an FE college and was the Curriculum Leader for GCSE English. I have also taught AS/A2 English Literature and AS/A2 English Language. I have also worked for AQA as a moderator for GCSE assessments.
