Information about Rhiannon
** I AM CURRENTLY FULLY BOOKED WITH NO AVAILABILITY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2019**
In July 2018 I graduated with a Merit in Medicine from Oxford University, as such I am now a qualified Doctor/Medical Practioner. Prior to this I taught science and P.E in London for two years 2012-2104 (via the TeachFirst graduate scheme). I taught yr 7 - 13 (ages 11 - 18), all three sciences at GCSE and just Biology and Chemistry A/AS Level. Prior to that I did Biochemistry Undergraduate at Oxford University (2008 - 2012), and graduated with a 1st.
I loved teaching, so whilst studying medicine I still have part of that whilst I did my own studies now. Hence, tutoring seemed like the best harmony between continuing teaching and studying myself. Indeed, I tutored for the passed 3 years of whilst studying medicine, and absolutely loved in, and actually find it a lot more rewarding and enjoyable than traditional teaching!
Previous/current tutoring experience:
- I started tutoring via TutorHunt in Oxford the 2015, until July 2018.
- I tutored medical students at Oxford University, both through the collegiate system (academic medical principles) and also clinical medical students in the hospital (clinical /practical skills with patients).
-This, plus a background as a former teacher should mean I can help you/your child with any tutoring needs they may have.
I am looking to tutor:
- science KS3, GCSE and AS/A Level (i.e yr7 - 13 science)
- any part of the University medicine application process (i.e. UCAS personal statement, medicine entry exams, and interview preparation and mock interviews - all of which I has the lead teacher for during my 2 years teaching in London)
- Science mock oxbridge interviews.
- I am also very happy to help tutees with their science UCAS applications
In my spare time I play a lot of sport - I was formerly captain of the Oxford University Netball Club (OUNC) 2nds, and played for 3 years. I also love to travel, am very energetic, love trekking and climbing (recently I just got back from a month honeymoon in Africa - including climbing Kilimanjaro!)
Verification:
I have a CRB/DBS certificate valid for working with minors/in schools valid from September 2014 (and one for working within hospitals, as required by my course valid from September 2014)
I can bring/send a photo of my University student card if certification of my studies/place at Oxford is necessary
I can also bring/send a photo of my teacher training/qualification certificates.
Please just let me know if you`d like to see any/all of these.

Experience:
**I AM FULLY BOOKED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2019 WITH NO AVAILABILITY AT ALL***
I taught science for two years in London, yr 7 - 13 (ages 11 - 18), all three sciences at GCSE and just Biology and Chemistry A/AS Level. I taught OCR GCSE and AS/A level, but did AQA myself so this is where my areas of expertise would lie.
I have a Science PGCE (2013, distinction), Qualified Teacher Status (2013) and Newly Qualified Teacher Status (2014). I passed both years of teacher assessment as `Outstanding`. I did these qualifications via the TeachFirst graduate scheme at an inner city school in London.
I worked at a fully comprehensive school and as such I have taught an array of children from all different backgrounds, academic abilities (A/A* and also D/C) and special educational needs (e.g. dyslexia or autism).
In my two years teaching I had the same 2 GCSE classes: one middle set where target grades where B/A and one lower set where target grades where D/C. In the former we achieved 6 A*s and the rest As and in the latter 1 A, 5 Bs and the rest Cs. All pupils outdid their target grades making more than the government set `expected progress`.
I tutored our 1 `medical applicant` at my school, and worked with her closely particularly in the build up to interviews, organising a variety of mock interviews and potential questions. She was successful and now is at Imperial College London doing Medicine.
