I am currently in the final stages of completing my Doctorate in Philosophy at the University of Reading funded by the AHRC. Previous to my doctoral studies I received my Masters from Cambridge, and my Bachelors from Stirling. My research is in moral philosophy, broadly construed. I have a background in all areas of philosophy, and have studied English, Politics, and History at undergraduate level.

Availability: I am available to tutor Tuesday - Thursday and on weekends.

Experience: I provide tuition which is tailored to the needs of the tutee on material contained in GCSE, A Level, and IB courses in English, History, Philosophy, and Politics. I am very happy to provide tuition at undergraduate level in Philosophy.

Knowing how to write and read critically is a skill necessary for any Humanities subject. I combine an approach that uses both demonstration by example, and teaches students explicitly the methods they can use to analyse texts, as well as methods of synthesising information.

Depending on the needs of the tutee I can teach methods of critical analysis/synthesis, basic reasoning, composition, and grammar. A sound grasp of these skills will enable any student to confidently approach critical writing and reading in the Humanities, especially in English, History, and Philosophy.

I have four years experience teaching undergraduates at the University of Reading, where I have taught a number of classes on moral philosophy, epistemology, politics, religion, and more. In this setting I have tended to teach in small tutorial groups of between 5 to 12 students, though I have also tutored on a one-to-one basis. In addition to my work at the University of Reading I have taken classes for pupils at the Reading School on logic, and on the ethics of climate change.
